PERSONALITY:
• Mixed-bag: While Rohan can be a little bit of a mixed bag in how he behaves with who is interacting with, it is largely a response to either what he knows about the person (learned through interacting or with Heaven's Door), or how they treat him. He calls Koichi his friend, and antagonizes Josuke, and is respectful towards Jotaro. His treatments of others is reactionary - good and kind people get treated better than people who make attempts to deceive or cheat him. And he doesn't forgive easily. Or ever. Let's just say it's easier to not piss him off to begin with than to try and seek forgiveness.
• Desire to improve: Rohan strives to be the absolute best of a mangaka. He is always working to create better stories, better characters - just, the best. He mentions early on that he was good before (he's just a little arrogant, too), but his ability has made him better. He wants to be the best, and he wants to give people the best thing to read. Though his desire to improve isn't limited only to his work. It exists within him, as well! Rohan verbally resists growth, but his actions show otherwise. Early on, he would not have dreamed of helping people, but later on - he even is caught helping people he otherwise doesn't like. This shows that he wants to improve and grow, because Rohan is not the type of guy who would do things if he didn't want to do them.
• Curious: Rohan's curiosity exists throughout his entire life. He wants to find out about people - how they react to things, how he does things. His curiosity is sometimes life threatening. I mean - he wants to interview a serial killer - Kira. Which he says is why he gets involved in the first place. Sometimes his behavior is reckless and stupid, and results in personal harm - such as when he deals with Cheap Trick, a stand that clings to his back after he is unable to resist at a man's back when he finds out that the man doesn't want it. Telling Rohan NOT to do something will ONLY drive him into doing it more. And, towards the end, he had to know who Kira was, and despite warnings from Hayato, he proceeds to find out anyway. This results in multiple deaths. Curiosity literally killed the mangaka.
• Stubborn: "I refuse," so says Rohan Kishibe. His more famous quote says probably the most about how he comes across. Rohan can't be made to do anything he doesn't want to. When Highway Star tempts Rohan with a deal, he absolutely refuses. He doesn't want to take the deal - he doesn't do it. This stubbornness causes his life to be on the line (again). He has to decide for himself if it is something he wants to do. Rohan knows that he is in charge of his life and the way he leads it. And, if he feels like he's being coerced into something, he'll resist it even harder - at least for a moment. Sometimes he caves (such as in saying he'll actually miss Reimi), but he acts like it wasn't something he wanted to say, and is still a bit of a brat about it.
• Holding a grudge: When Josuke tries to cheat playing a game against Rohan, which is something he hates - Rohan develops a nasty grudge against him. The grudge runs so deep that when Josuke heals him after Highway Star, he tells him that he would have rather died than gotten help from Josuke.
To note, the opposite of this is also seen with Koichi - who treats Rohan really well despite how Rohan acts towards him. Rohan calls him a friend. Let's just say, he doesn't forget when someone angers him, just as well as he doesn't forget when someone's good to him.
• Driven - he goes all in: He is a guy, that despite his nature, you want in your corner. Once he commits to something, he will never - ever stop until he figures it out. Part of his drive is contributed to by his curiosity, too. He has to know. He doesn't know how or when to give up, even when it might be better for him. He is the first person to find out who Kira is, too! Probably because he persistently takes photos of people, places, researches them, and works. He doesn't find out who Kira is by chance. He finds him because Rohan works hard. He's driven by what he wants. I mean - he's also pretty clever, since he puts pieces together. But if he were clever with no drive, he would have never been successful.
• Desire to be good: Rohan has some bad and good qualities, but he is overall a good person who wants to be good. He admires Koichi, and thinks he's cool because of how good and honest he is a person. Rohan is able to see the things in Koichi that he isn't always, but the things he wants to be. Despite the grudges against people that he may gain, he would never go out of his way to hurt him. In fact, he'll go out of his way to help them or save their life. He tires very hard to do the right thing, even at the risk of his life. He is rough around the edges, make no mistake. He has a habit of being blunt, a little too straightforward and honest with people, but he does want to try and fight for the right thing. He really, really tries to be good, and is still a work in progress. While he may say things that aren't nice, he doesn't actually go out of his way to do people any real harm.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Rohan is a stand user who has the ability named Heaven's Door. While I've linked full details, here's a brief summary of each part.
• Reading others like a book: He is able to turn individuals into readable books. It is the absolute truth, and reveals personal details, details on their powers. Basically every personal detail. It can be used on the living, dead, undead, and sometimes animals.
• While booked, he can: remove pages/memories or alter them. He can also add commands. Simple and straight forward commands work best, and sometimes even otherwise impossible things can happen (such as a person suddenly flying backwards at inhuman speeds).
• He's also strategically used people turning into books to render them unable to fight back.
Note for all pieces: I will ask player permission before use on others and set up a permissions post for his stand, too (separately from his other permissions). All parts of his stand will require permission. Since none of his ability is world breaking, I do not believe any major nerfing is necessary. Of course, I will use it with discretion, and would consult with you if he decides to use it on NPCs.
